Throttle Cable Fix
- Approximately 6 feet of 1/16 in. diameter galvanized steel rope/cable ($0.19 per foot)
- 1/16 in. ferrules ($0.78 per pkg.)
- Dry lubricant with teflon
- Remove only the inner steel portion of the throttle cable by cutting one end off and pulling it out by the uncut end.
- Spray the new the galvanized steel rope with dry lubricant.
- Feed one end of the 1/16" galvanized steel cable into the old throttle cable tube.
- Look under the dash and find the end of the new steel rope. Feed it through the hole in the accelerator pedal.
- Crimp one of the ferrules on the end of the cable.
- Pull the cable tight on the throttle body end and mark it to length.
- Crimp two ferrules on this end, one at your mark the other next to the first.
- Cut the cable just past the second ferrule and insert as shown in the picture.
Total cost $1.73 since I already had the dry lubricant.
