Neither one of my turn signals or hazards work. No clicking or lights or anything. I took the steering wheel off and tested the power at the switch and it has power when the signal is turned on. I know this is a pretty complicated subject but any ideas what could be causing this? I have a haynes manual and I'm tracing everything. Could it still be a bad signal switch?
Some things to note: Horn doesn't work, no radio, trailer hookups have been installed at some point but the wiring in the rear looks correct, replaced all rear bulbs.
Flashers are worth looking into and not a bad diagnosis, but I'm thinking bad ground here. If you checked voltage at the switch I'm guessing that you didn't ground through the rest of the circuit, but rather grounded at a steel part of the truck (i.e. the rest of the freaking cab). Problem is if the ground on the circuit is bad, then you would see voltage through a good ground but wouldn't see workee lights. try grounding your tester through the ground side of the circuit and if you get no voltage than that's your problem. If you get voltage then try new flashers. If that doesn't work and nobody smarter than me has any new ideas then light the truck on fire and blame the dog. (Stupid pyromaniac dog...)
When I tested the switch I used the ground through the circuit. That's about as far as I got till my new PS pressure hose got in. Next stop will be testing at the flashers tomorrow.
The contacts in your switch might not be makeing a good connection. When i got my ford only the right signal worked. I kept flipping the signal up and down and it started working. Its a crude method but its worked on 3 vehicles ive owned! Also the flaser relay might be bad but I think that only controls the blinking.
Squirrels eating the wiring harness under the truck?
Don't laugh too much, they got part of mine last year .... not so haha!
A squirrel chewed up the wires on my chevys starter one time, shorted it out and the motor started cranking over! I aint gonna say what happen to the squirrel.
Mice got my boat. Def not a haha moment... That's what I don't get. all the wiring looks super clean. In the process of pulling the dash off as I want to paint the interior and weld the floor panels anyways. I'll let you know when I get a diagnosis.
