At the difference a few ounces of PM-22 can make in how my 6.7 sounds and runs.. The last time I filled up it took 33.1 gallons and I was running a little short on PM-22 but put 7 oz in the tank... over the next few days I noticed a difference in the way the engine ran and sounded...
Yesterday I ran by the station and topped the tank off with 26 gallons and put 10 oz of PM-22 in as well... as the day progressed I could hear and feel the difference.. This morning the engine is much quieter and the response to the throttle is much better..
I've been running diesels off and on since the late 80's and I've never seen this much difference made by an additive..
Yes. A lot is fuel of today. But todays diesel fuel stradagy is very complex in fuel delivery. So. Yes a addative can make big differences. But you dont need to add that much. One bottle is good for 125 gallons of fuel.
I actually developed that dosage by accident.. I first used the recommended ratio of .16 (4 / 25 = .16) and the first dosage was 6oz for a full tank (37.5 gallons).. and subsequent fill-ups followed the same ratio usually around 26 gallons at fill so just a bit over 4 oz..
I let my granddaughter help me get fuel one Saturday and the bottle had around 10 oz left in it when she poured it all in as I turned to get the nozzle... That fill-up was about 30 gallons ... so I didn't think anything of it... but that week the truck ran better and was noticeably quieter.. So since then I've been using a .3 ratio.
I've been very happy with the results and was just amazed last week when I slipped up and only put a .21 ratio in the mix.. much louder and not as responsive to the throttle...
I wondered if anyone else might have experienced the same...
Fairly large Chevron station that nearly every truck on this side of town buys fuel at... it's usually a steady line of trucks waiting.. We fueled our tractors there for years when I was in the fertilizer business.. and I think they still use that station for fueling..
I have found that my truck goes into regeneration much more frequently when I use the additive, which is the opposite of what you would think. I stopped using it for that reason. It was killing my mileage.
I have always done about a double dose of PM22 and have with the exception of the dealer installed first tank, always filled at the same Irving station. Seems all the ambulances fill there. If I get bad fuel I have every receipt for the last 1.5 years. I do seem to regen a lot but I do a lot of short easy trips.
I have not noticed an increase in regen frequency with the PM-22 but I have noticed an increase in MPG since I began using it... Partly I've attributed the increase to "breaking in" but the increase is noticeably less if I short change the additive.
I've tried other stations, especially on trips where I'm towing the TT but the results seem to mirror those I obtain at my home station..
