also one major thing you need to worry about is certain headers will not work in certain applications my long tube 3" race headers will not fit in my 66 (well they will but the flange in right square in the middle of a cross member and neither can be moved....)

Real the starter in a heat shield. That header can cook the starter. I have a set for mine and plan on bolts breaking....

NOT CHEAP but I understand Sanderson has a set of headers designed for our 60s F-100 trucks. They collect and dump straight down between the two center cylinders on each side. They are shorties as they call them. Sure look nice. You can make your exhaust pipes to go around the starter so it doesn't cook it. I talked to a guy that made a small section of exhaust pipe from the header to just past the starter. This piece of exhaust pipe can be removed so the starter can be replaced easy if needed. Great idea since the starter can be a real pain in butt to change out.
