'65 352 headers

I have a '65 F100 with the 352. The drivers side exhaust manifold has been eaten up a little and has a little leak. I have looked and looked and cannot find a manifold. I have decided that putting a set of headers on is my best option, do any of you guys have suggestions, other than headers? Or suggestions on header brands? Thanks in advance!

I see FE exhaust manifolds on ebay all the time.

If it were me I would go with coated headers, nothing more ugly than a nice looking engine with big nasty rusted headers.

I can find them for the passenger side all the time on eBay, but not driver side.

I have Hooker Super Comps on mine. ALERT be prepared for the bolts to all break and you have to pull the head to fix.

Thats why I have not even attempted to do anything with mine.

I do have a set of heads off my 390 parts truck that I could freshen up and use.

C5TZ-9431-A .. Left (drivers side) Exhaust Manifold ~ Use with Heat Riser Valve ~ 1965/67 F100/350 352 / 1973 F100 360.

Heat riser valve located between inlet pipe and manifold. Is the heat riser valve still present?

If it is, has the flapper valve rusted solid in the open position (as usual)? Or has it been gutted, flapper valve removed, holes welded up?

The right (passenger side) exhaust manifold is much easier to find, cuz it's the same: 1965/67 F100/350 352 / 1968/76 F100/350 360/390.

I have both left and right, brand new logs that use the donut type gaskets and eliminates the heat riser valve. These are replacement for 'truck type' manifolds. Right side points almost straight back. Heat riser tube is on the right manifold. I THINK. What I remember. I could go look and get the #s and check which side theheat riser is on. Bills most likely right. I 'no pay tench' some times. ;o)

On the 4 FEs I have owned in the last 30 years its been located on the drivers side exhaust manifold ahead of the exhaust pipe connector. I have not seen one on both manifolds. All of my FEs were original single exhaust trucks.

It may bolt up to the cylinder head flange on your FE ENGINE, BUT - will it fit in your engine bay without hitting the frame, steering, firewall, etc?

From the looks of it the car / pickup FE exhaust manifolds were NOT all the same part. Maybe you could get a casting number off of it from the seller and that may assist you in knowing what it came off of.

Bill,
What do you mean it's the same?
It's the same casting as the left side, over the same years, or ?

I was wrong. Nothing new - I learn something everyday. I just went out and looked at my pile of S??? and I did only find the driver side with the use of the valve. The little hole that the metel pipe from the right manifold and goes to the choke on the carb is on the pass side. However, I only found two of the driver side ones that required the use of the heat riser valve. The other two left ones did not.
Bill, what yr did they stop using the heat riser valve. Can I assume that they stopped ALL HRVs for ALL the different cars and trucks at the same time. Thus the reason I have some left sides that use the donut type seals.
ALSO, another good question I think, What right side (pass side) mainifold that has a center dump (betwen #2 & #3) and used on a CAR will work on the 65-66 F-100 FE motor. I know there will need to be some fancy exhaust bending to go around the tower and still NOT interfer with the starter but heck,,, same thing has to be donw with the left side to clear the P/S box and linkage for some of the standard shift guys out there. The reason I ask is, the center dump logs can move air better then the standard TRUCK log. #4 air must go foreward first before it starts to move back and mix with 1-3...
Just a thought.
Fritz
