Neutral safety switch again?

So, I found out of how the mlps, or neutral safty switch can turn into a gremlin. I replaced mine with one from Jeff's bronco graveyard last year.
I was driving onto the highway and as I got up to 60 my tranny went right into neutral. Upon googling this problem, it seems to point at that.
Side note.
My steering column has been performing excellent for a vehicle with 267,324 on it. I had the bearings replaced in the column at 137,000 miles. This year, a huge chunk of linkage dropped on my shoe.
You can offically put the transmission into any gear without the key. The truck only starts with the key in the run position and I installed a toggle switch. The truck still gets 12-16 mpg. Everything still works for a a 96 5.8 liter with 4eod tranny.
Side note 2.
She developed a slight "studder" that occurs under a light load of either 30mph or 60-70mph. More gas pedal and it goes away. Less gas pedal results the same.
Should I check the ground wire on the harness that goes to that switch? I am still thinking the NS switch is junk anyway. I really don't wanna have to replace my steering column. It's more about keeping her humming along!!
