Blew my first plug

Im kind of new to this site, but have found it to be a wealth of info. I have a 02 f250 with the v10 with 120,000 miles on the original plugs. Im running a superchips programmer, afe intake and filter, and mbrp 4 in cat back exhaust. A few days ago I blew a plug on my way to work, its the 4th one back on the passanger side. I ordered the time sert kit and got that today. I have read alot but I have a few ?s I pulled the coil and plug tonight and the electrode end of the plug is smashed pretty bad and Im concerned that maybe the piston hit the plug. Also i want to check the torque on the other plugs and Im not sure what torque I should use. Also do most of you that have done this repair use a bore scope, i do not want to hit a valve or the piston. I also have a 2000 with the v10 and original plugs. It has 130,000 on it. Should I re torque the plugs and what setting should I use? It is running awesome and hate to mess with anything.

When I got my 2000 it had 142,000 on the original plugs and was running awesome. I replaced them and then it really ran awesome, plus the MPG went up about 1.5 MPG. So yes, just replace them and be done.

And welcome aboard!

What plug to run?

I was thinking about replacing my plugs. What's a good plug to run in the V10?

go OEM for plugs, if ur heads have more then 3 threads (which they should), then use 22-24lbs as a torque value.

i put mine in dry.

GL with the repair, after you get it sorted you should be good for another 50Kmiles.

So I did the time sert repair tonight, I built a platform that i could lay flat on my stomach on to do it. It went pretty smooth, I like the quality of the kit and it had really good instructions. I also bought an inspection camera and that helped a ton to make sure the valves were closed and the piston was down. It took me about 3 hours to do it, hopefully I wont have to do another one. When I first started it it ran a little rough but after a few minutes it smoothed right out. So far Im happy, I hope i dont have any problems with the insert, I need to get another 120,000 out of her.

With that many miles I would go ahead and change them. I only have 40,000 on my 2000 but I went ahead and changed the plugs and put anti seize on them just as a preventative measure.

Going to change the plugs tomorrow. On a side note have any of you used the v10 y pipe that is sold on ebay? If so how is the quality and fit? I have a few broken exhaust manifold studs and I was thinking about doing the y pipe while I was at it. I also need to do my ball joints have been strongly thinking about doing the dyna trac bearing and hub conversion while its torn apart.
