I am not much of a 4 stroker mech. but in 2 strokers that is definitly a sign of detination,, Octane not high enough or other problems. again I am no mech but sounds like you are getting some compression problems of some time. When you pull the plugs what do they look like.. and can you see any pitting in the head of the pistons? if you can see in there?
Welcome to the blown plug club. check out timecert.com for a good kit to use for the repair. go through all your plugs and torque them down and cross your fingers it wont happen anymore.
definitely call and order the kit from time-sert. i just fixed my v10 #3 cyl with it. this kit worked *exactly* as they said it would. it took me about 4 hours incl lunch. i even called the company with questions that came up while i was working on it, and the technician there was reasuring, and knowledgeable. i had a bit of anxiety about carving out a hole in my motor, but, i took my time to make sure i was doing everything correctly. see my post in the v-10 forum.
unknown by me on the torque specs for the plugs. i did see some threads where there was mention of them, but i called the dealer, and asked to speak to one of their technicians, who didnt know either! and didnt have any manuals to look it up. (could this be BS?) he said they just finger tight them into the hole, then give it a little twist with the wrench, and call it good...
that should give you some confidence, eh?
Go to www.flatratetech.com and search for blown plugs in the Ford forum. Those are mostly Ford master techs at that site and they know the torque and proceedure to follow.

I searched out the following info on my Ford service info DVD.
I looked up the torque for the spark plugs in two different places,
the first torque (spec) is listed in the specifications; the second
torque (r&r) is under spark plug service. What an inconsistency.
Please note the difference in inch/lbs & foot/lbs.
It seems that Ford had some devolpment problems with these motors and some of their others.... The threads in the heads only accomadate 1/3 of the threads available on the spark plugs thus always seem too losin up and blow out... They dont even come close too the end of the plug.....I'm around the shop alot , and see and hear about it far too often......problably won't buy one i'll stick too my diesels.......
