stumples at start

My CEL has been on for a few days, the trucks going in monday..but yesterday and today I have noticed a few times that when I start the truck, it hesitates and stumbles for a few seconds at start up, and then its fine. Once after this happened, I shut it down, waited a few seconds, started up, and it did it again, but I repeated the process, and started fine the third time.

Do you have the stumble now since you removed the Edge? I had a slight stumble with calibration not being right. Could be your Edge is giving you a problem.

Well see what the tech finds.....must be something out of calibration. Doubt if anything is serious...probably a sensor or EGR.

Does the 6.0 have a Cam Position Sensor like the 7.3?

Mark

The 6.0L has a Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) and a Crankshaft Position Signal (CKP). The PCM monitors the values between the CMP and CKP. An error code would be present unlike the 7.3L and the CPS.

nope..never reflashed..still has the factory one from march of '04...Im sure thats going to change now as its at the dealer...As I was taking it there...when I was at stoplights, it would get loud, and then quiet..but rpms would stay the same...except after when it was quiet for about 10 seconds, the rpms would drop slightly, and then it would sort of pick itself up again, and be loud...well see what happens tomorros....

Mine gets louder and quieter when idleing also; and the rpms don't change.Even when driving at steady speeds like 40 or 30 the engine gets louder and quieter. It only seems to do it when its hot outside or if Ive been driving for an hour on the highway.Im in Phoenix so its hot now.Anyone have any ideas?Thanx, Jim

well the dealer figured out what the stumble was...bad egr sensor....but thats not the worst of it...found out my head gasket is leaking and so is the rear main...going back tuesday for who knows how long...they told me the engines gotta be pulled out...that sucks...big time...I wont have my beast for at least 2 weeks they said...is this about how long it takes??? Also, is it true that FMC does not pay for rental cars if your vehicle is out for a length of time??? Thats what Ive been told today and that really sucks, as this is my only vehicle...In my earlier chebby days, when my vehicle was out for more that two days I always got a rental....this bites on fords part...
