Hello there, been a member for some time, but never posted here. I have been looking at new speakers for some time now as the $35 ones I put in a year and a half ago have pretty much hit the fan. I have been looking at some Infinity Reference X component speakers. Right now I can get 2 sets for the front and back for the price of one. I have read that I should really have them powered by an Amp, and not just the head unit. My head unit only has one set of RCA outputs on it and they are already going to an amp for my sub. Is there a way I can successfully hook a 4 channel amp to power the speakers with this head unit? Don't really want to buy a new head unit right now seeing as mine is only about a year old. If it cant be done just say so, that's fine, it will save me time and headaches.
You can put a set of y connectors on the RCA cable running to your sub amp to feed the amp for your speakers. I'm using them to feed one side on my 4 channel amp because my HU only has 2 outputs.
