some newer head units will allow you to bridge the 2 rear speaker outputs to run 1 subwoofer(2-4ohm)
but this will only give you between 50-100 watts
I would recommend a seperate power amp

Originally posted by feddoc I have a 600W 4 channel amp that I am going to put in my truck. It will be pushing 4 polk speakers.
Is there a way to push a subwoofer off the deck amp...or do I have to get a separate amp for that???
thanks
A better idea would be to run your rear Polks off the head unit. Then run the fronts on the 2 front channels of the amp. Bridge the 2 rear channels for a 4 ohm sub.
if the amp is tri-mode stable just wire the sub to the rear channel in tri mode (wire speakers like normal but add the sub like it is bridged). i personally would just run the polks off of the head unit and run the sub with an amp
