BTS Tunes

Gonna be swapping my DP Tuner with BTS tunes. Just curious to know what other users think and what tunes you have. Thanks

I made the same decision over a year ago. I love the BTS tunes and have never looked back or regret my decision.

I went from PHP to BTS and have no regrets. And egt's are in check.

Tunes: stock, light tow, heavy tow, 100hp, 140 race, high idle

Mike, long time no see.

I think you will be happy with your decision, if not, you will have a platform to try almost any other tuner of your choice too.

I currently have Cale's tunes, but I am going to see Brian on Tuesday, so I am going to ask his opinion and try his possibly. I have no issues at all with mine from Cale, and have a feeling Brian wouldn't change too much anyway but never hurts to offer another suggestion.

I have a dp in right now that I got about 3 weeks ago. At the same time I ordered the dp I ordered bts because I wanted to compair due to all the controversial threads a few weeks ago. I have only used the dp sofar, I want to get a good feel for all the tunes and note all the numbers so I can compair them to bts in a few weeks.

Trey has a DP and a TS chip... maybe he'll chime in. I remember him mentioning pros and cons to both.

I went from dp to BTS tunes in both my trucks. BIG difference in every way. Less smoke, lower EGT's, higher ICP, more power, better MPG's, less NOISE and obviously better shifting!!

I have 'stock' (Brian 'fixes' the stock tune too ), 1200rpm hi-idle, 60tow, 80 100 & 140 with 160cc single-shots in the dually. I think the X had a 40 tune - the hottest tune on that chip was 100HP, and it made 324HP on the dyno!

wow,
3 years ago when I owed my truck, that is everybody talked about was DP.

no truck (never got DP cause of funds)
but I do have a van.

Is BTS it that much better???

for all those DP jumpers, are you selling the DP since you dont seem to need then any more? I only ask cause I want something once I get my other things fixed hoping to save some funds.

Yes, that much better - in MY experience.

Sure, used dp chips are getting cheaper all the time. I just talked to a friend yesterday who will let his F5 with 12 toons go for 1/2 what he paid for it.

I gave one away and sold the other w/6 toons for only $175, because I felt guilty. After all, some would say those toons broke (2) engines...

Scribing to this one! I am contemplating a move, and would like the ability for BTS to do the shift tunes, so will go with something more user friendly, or versatile. Like PHP. I like my DP/80e a lot, but having tow issues in 60t.

I recently changed from my DP which has worked perfectly for me for over a year. I only changed because I don't like the loud injectors and touchy pedal with the DP. I got a BTS and so far it has not been good for me so far. I have not posted about my issues because I wanted to give Brian a chance to straighten it out. So Now that we're on the BTS vs DP subject. My DP only has no start, stock, 80e and 80t. My BTS has stock, 80 street ,100 street, 40t, 80t, hi idol. The BTS is so much quieter, has no touchy pedal, has good power, but the shifting is far from good. I'm on my 3rd burn now and still don't have my chip back yet. The chip is $500 and now I have lots of $ in shipping back and forth. It is not cooperating with my Trans at all. My truck is NVK5 and the tunes BTS is sending me are PMT1. I don't know if that matters or not? At 35 mph it hunts for gears. At 40mph it locks up the converter and shifts to overdrive at the same time and the rpm's drop 1100 rpm. The stock mode on the BTS shifts fine, my DP shifts fine, my $500 chip from one of the best tranny builders out there, shifts like crap! That's definatly not what I expected! BTS also doesn't offer a no start on there chip. Why me? I can't see what would be so different with my truck if my truck shifts fine stock, with DP, with BTS stock mode, but any BTS tunes and the truck doesn't shift normal. Sorry for the long post and poor grammar.

Crewcab, I have same issues with my DP, noise, touchy 80e, and crappy shifting on tow tune. With the F5, I have sent back once, but it's hard for me because of where the trailer sits, having to ship etc, hook up, tow to figure out what's what. That is why I am looking at the PHP Hydra, and I believe Brian, or others, can program that chip. DP being proprietary makes that impossible. Otherwise wishing I spent the extra 200 for the F6, but who knows. Others have great success with Brian's shifting tunes, and I hope for a tranny from him next year, so to me him tweaking the shifting makes sense. When the time comes, I hope to park trailer near him, get the trans, and tweak the shifting before I head home. Of course, need to find that 5k dollars first!
