What's Brian say about it?

It should lock TC at the end of 3rd gear, then once it goes into OD. It almost feels like another gear when TC locks up in 3rd, then it goes into OD and TC locks up right away. This is STOCK shift logic.

All of my tunes shift exactly the same. In fact, until I push hard on the loud pedal there is no way to know what tune I'm in. It drives the same in 100HP tune as it does in 'stock' just puttering through town.

I hope he gets it figured out for you!!

Crewcab, I also have the NVK5 PCM with PMT1 on my chip. I actually got my NVK5 from Brian as an upgrade from the poor e99 pcm.
My shifts are spot on with Brians tunes, but were all over the place with the DP Go figure... My DP 60 tow tune was so bad I don't even want to talk about it.

When I first got Brians tunes my 100hp street tune felt like it would shift into 4th too soon, and the truck fell on it's face. I always thought that It should hold third a bit longer.
After comparing the shift points with/without the chip I realized they are just about the same and I believe it's the added power that made it feel weird?

However I'm a bit heavy footed and that drove me nuts. I would run in my highest tow tune (80hp at the time) just for the better spaced out shifts.
Now when he re burned my chip for the single shots I asked him to add 100 tow just for the spread out shifts. He agreed, and said he likes the tow tune shift points better himself.
Now....I drive 99% of the time in the 100 tow and I could not be any happier. I still have the 100 street and low and behold it shifts much better now in that tune?? I don't know if he changed something on that tune because of our talk ?, or the single shot tunes are a little different?
I don't know, I just know that it's great now.
Maybe ask him about the tow tune shift points for daily driving.
I'm sure if anyone can get it right it would be him.

Has he mentioned anything about the health of your trans? or anything else that could cause the issues your experiencing?

Did you get you VB at the same time as you tunes? When he builds the trans he sets up the VB for the tuner you have. My VB was originally set up for the DP 80E tune and hasn't been changed since.

Hope I'm not rambling, just trying to help out somehow.

My truck is shifting too early as you said yours did. If I drive it hard it acts fine, good power and shifting. If I drive normally or slow like on small side streets it falls on its face when it shifts and then takes a lot of pedal to get it to down shift to get power and then I get lots of smoke because its so bogged down. My valvebody was installed as Brian's first attempt at correcting my shifting issues with his chip. I am happy with the results of the valvebody, but it did nothing to correct my shifting issues. It seems most of my shifting problems happen when there is light throttle being applied. As I said before it works well when I run it hard. Right now I have my DP in and it shifts great and consistant. The BTS just doesn't have the firm quick shifts my DP has. The health of my Trans has never been questioned by Brian so far. I never heard of other people having issues with BTS tuning so I would assume something has to be different with MY truck and not so much Brian's tunes. I wish there was somewhere close enough to get some live tuning. I do plan on a BTS Trans when I can afford it so I'm sure Brian can dial it in easier when he puts my Trans in.

Well...I know Mike is a busy guy with a lot going on, but I chose to leave before he got to test out his new tunes and setup, regrettably as I enjoyed his company at BTS.

But how do you like/dislike it, Mike? And you should post a video of your new exhaust too! Sorry I left, but I was worn out, after not really sleeping the night before and then the stress from the transport company didn't help, soon after I arrived home, I crashed...

Hi Alan, it was good time that day for both of us. The tunes and exhaust made a huge different. The truck sounds so much deeper on the throttle and at idle. If I can ever figure out how to post a video I will. Lol how you like your new BTS?

That was long day for both of us. I slept like a baby that night.

The trans is very impressive, quite positive shifts, and smooth. As I said in my other thread, very satisfied customer...even after the bill.

Videos I use Youtube account, but photobucket works too.

Good to hear...only question I have is when I was driving home going through the steep grades it would down shift 2-3 times back to back going about 40-45 mph. Dont exactly what tune i was in...thinking it was the 80tow but i'll call Brian about it tomorrow.

Empty, I don't like my tow tunes, in part for those reasons, in the hills, but the street tunes allow a little quicker throttle response to not seem to lag or require more throttle. On flatter land, none of tunes matter, but in the hills at slower speeds empty I like my 100 tune. And I even tow in it, unless I'm running through the mountains here.

So it was probably normal I guess. The tunes definitely feels much stronger than what I had before. No complaints from Brian and his staff... they are great people that knows how to treat their customers.

Ask Brian, see what he says, but that's kinda the way my tow tunes react when empty.

Hope they got your No start issue taken care of as well.

Did you say they replaced your MLPS(aka Transmission Range switch/neutral safety switch) too? That would have been the next step in my opinion as well.

I have the Dp Infiniti w/ 80 t and 80E. Shifting and performance is good with 80E. Towing in 80T, I'll shift in od at about 53-53 mph, which seems a bit high, especially when driving in 45mph zones. I have to get her up to 55 and back off the throttle a bit. MPG were not really any different from stock. I got between 10 and 11mpg driving 65 towing 7k with not much wind, mountains and flat lands.

My issue with the Infiniti is that it is tough to read the numbers of the screen. My vision is good, but damn those numbers are small. I wanted to talk to BTS about their tunes but after leaving 2 messages and an email without a response, I went another route.

This is a good thing. Towing at 45 MPH in OD at anything less than 50 MPH lugs the engine something fierce. I have mountain tunes, so I have the same shift when empty, and I'm grateful for it around here. If I'm on a long flat at 45-50 when empty, I'll select the stock tune to get the RPMs down.

I have a DP system and Dad has a BTS. They drive differently but that is about that. I have, in the past asked Jody to make some modifications to the way the pedal is since I prefer the 80E to be more twitchy but that is me. I can't see how it is better one way or the other. It all boils down to personal preference for me. Besides, whomever you get, IF they are competent, they can tweak the first offering till you are satisfied. You DON'T have to take the first offering. That is simply what they like best for settings. Beyond that, when you say 60HP, that is about all it will give you, give or take a few. The rest is personal preference and since a competent tuner can set it up the way you want, I don't see the difference.

DP just has the best hardware so I can have him change it to what I want much easier than sending it in or buying a burner to do it and have another piece of equipment sitting on my desk to be used one time every 5 years or so.

Just my $0.02.
