Though if the d70 is already setup to more or less bolt in and has what he needs.. might be better off matching the rear axle to it instead of trying to match the front to the rear for gear ratio. Depends on what the d70 has in it and how much gear he needs/what he does with the truck I guess.
The 205 t-case will fit right on the ZF (it is 5spd?) in place of the parking brake. Or most any other t-case from Ford. Should be similar with auto. Someone advised me that there is some regulation that requires that parking brake unit on a service type vehicle such as F-Superduty when I was researching a ZF swap. That is a 4 x 4 trans if it has the parking brake on it, but used in 2 WD trucks.
Could your rear axle have parking brake capability, even if not used because of the drum on the trans? IIRC the drum was required for service trucks like with a hydraulic crane or man-lift, a separate brake from the hydraulic brake system.
