EGR Delete?

Is there a distinct advantage to doing the EGR delete? Also, I see there is an EGR cooler delete kit? Shouldn't this cooler be there?
I guess what Im asking is should I do the EGR cooler and EGR valve deletes while I already have the Turbo off waiting for a new one? What are the advantages, if any, of doing the deletes?
Sorry for the bonehead questions but these Diesels are a whole new animal to me. This is all so confusing.. Forgot to mention this is on an '04 F250 Super Duty with the 6.0..

If it means anything to you, the guy that responded above is one of the Super-Diesel Gurus here on FTE. If you look at his signature you'll see he has the delete... That may be a significant hint to the value of a delete.
Anyway, yup there are a whole lot of discussions that have occurred on this subject and a search will give you plenty of reading for quite some time. One thing to remember, if you do the delete:
It is recommended to leave the egr in place and plugged in for proper fan operation for proper engine cooling.
Use the egr cooler bi-pass for the egr cooler and block off egr ports (you can leave the cooler in place but coolant bipassed so the cooler can be seen at a visual inspection.
Make sure to block off exhaust flow prior to egr valve so no exhaust gasses pass back into the intake of your engine. They will not be cooled with the egr cooler bipassed.
And finally, you will more than likely need a tuner to turn off the check engine light for low egr flow when it has become non-operational. SCT would be my choice.
Oh, and also if you do the delete you need to accept the risk. If you get caught, you are breaking the law and could be fined.

I didn't want sooty exhaust directed back into My engine! Elimate the need to clean/replace that valve in the future. My engine runs better, so 3 great reasons for the delete. Depending if your state has emmision testing "breaking the law may have consequences"

Might be because of emissions?

Ok, finally have internet in my shop....
The only guy grumpier than me is Moe...Cheezit, and he is also number one when it comes to info...
A delete costs the same as a bulletproof cooler.
I replaced my egr valve 2 years ago, and I've been using a cetane additive since then, and I've had no problems and don't expect any. I've heard about the 5 mpg increases with the delete and don't believe it.
We have had a right wing gov't for 40 years where I live, but the libs are taking over...I want to be able to pass the smog check when it comes.

I may have seen a slight increase in mpg, with clean combustion air it should go up.
You could do a poll to get members insight into your delete.

Emissions is not an issue here since I live in NJ and we dont have to get diesels inspected anymore.

What PCM/ FICM strategies are you running?
