A junkyard might be your best hope. The tailgates in particular are hard to find in good condition. Some places such as LMC Truck sell replacement body pieces, the smaller ones might not be too expensive. But the aftermarket tailgates are quite expensive if I remember correctly. And they are reported to be inferior in quality (thinner metal) to the original equipment.

Welcome to FTE

Styleside Tailgate: 1983/86 F100/350 is the same / 1980/82 & 1987/96 are not the same. All the parts are obsolete, but all are available NOS including the tailgate (2 available).

Lotta junkyards in your area, off I-5 & 99, shouldn't have too much trouble finding the parts. Sacramento Vintage Ford might have some/all of the parts.

thank you both very much. Ive found the complete tailgates in junkyards but i can't find one in decent condition or where the parts actually work. i have a tailgate i just dont have the parts inside to make the tailgate actually work all that i have on the tailgate are the pieces that allow the tailgate to become one with the truck, the handle, and the tailgate line so the tailgate doesn't fall off when its down. So im either in need of a "new" tailgate or all the pieces and some way to put them back inside and i have no clue how the owner before me even took them out. i have a few options of what could do but i just don't know what to do as of now because i can never seem to find what im looking for. Numberdummy, what is the website that you are referring to about the nos tailgates for sale? is there a way to put the tailgate inner pieces back in without having to cut the shell and bend it back? thank you for all the advice. the only junk yards that i seem to find are pick and pull i cant find any other place do you know of some places not to far from tracy modesto stockton area or also sometimes im up north in yuba city so if there are any places near there that would help too. sorry this reply was so long

All I have on the tailgate are the pieces that allow the tailgate to become one with the truck, the handle, and the tailgate line (support straps?) so the tailgate doesn't fall off when its down.
You need to see the picture of the whole enchilada, so you can determine what's missing. The following parts catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com

Ask Chris (ctubutis) or Gary Lewis to post this: 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Body Illustration Section 400, Page 10 / 1983/86 F100/350 Tailgate & Attaching Parts.

You have the tailgate, handle, R & L straps. Do you also have the latches? If not, see below.

Link rods fit inside tailgate, clips retain them to handle, t'other end connects to latches on tailgate.

The grille guard you want used to be sold by LMC. I have no idea if they still carry it, but it's worth a look.

Keep an eye on LMC, they like to discontinue and then re-issue items quite often.
