I admit to not having read my 100k warranty...I thought the whole drivetrain was covered. No? If the transmission is covered by the drivetrain warranty, why wasn't yours? I'm concerned because I have a 4" lift on mine.
According to ford my drive train didn't cover the transmission...I though the same thing as you did (drive train= transmission) right? Not so though, I think this EX is a lemon..my first one had more power and NO problems, that is until I rolled it on the 60 freeway I tow a pretty heavy horse trailer and boat with it and I'm sure that was the problem...My dealer has never heard of a transmission going out at 60k ( just my luck). The only problem that my lift caused was an occasional arguement with the dealer when it came to a warranty issue, no matter what it was they blamed it on the lift I have 78K on her now and no problems since my rear main seal was just replaced on Friday Im nursing her until i can order an 04 SD with the updated fuel rails.
Another thing... The trans was gonna cost me $3200.00 to replace but ford sold me some type of extended warranty called a PF-7( I think), charged me $1000.00 and replaced the entire setup, that was the only good thing that came out of the deal
