Question Need an answer

I am going to buy an Excursion. I am lookig at either a 6.0 2003 Eddie Bauer, or a 2001 7.3 from an individual. The 2001 has bout 31000 miles. The 2003 has been on the dealer lot since Jan '03.

Can any of you experts give a rookie some advice?

I was just wondering if you have been reading all the problems the the new 6.0 diesel has been giving people...I seems that the first run diesel's with a build date before March 03 are plagued with them. Now not all diesels have been having these problems, but just something to think about. Does the 01 have an extended warranty besides the 100k from the factory? If it does thats a good thing to have just in case. Why is the guy getting rid of it in the first place? What is the price difference between the two? If you buy a used vehicle in SoCal you have to pay taxes on that purchase...you can lie about the selling price of the used one (not so on a new one). 7.3 is a tried and true engine, the 6.0 is going through some growing pains right now. If it were my choice and money wasn't a problem i want whatever is the latest and greatest(6.0). If your a cautious buyer get the used one. Either way your gonna have some problems somewhere down the line i.e. bad door locks or engine updates. Just some things to think about
