Bad GEM Module?

I have a 2002 F250 4x4 SuperCrew. I think my GEM is bad. Before I go through the effort of replacing it, I want to make sure, as best I canm that it is ineed the problem.

Here is what I am seeing:

-Went to start truck and the battery is totally dead. (May be a bad batter, but does not seem like a coincidence.)

-No dome lights, when door opens or switch.

-No chimes when do opens or lights are left on, etc.

-No radio

-No windows

-Key fob does not work

-Door locks work

-Auto headlights do not work

-Manual swith for lights do work

-All the warning lights (door ajar, ABS, brakes, etc) are lit up on the dash.\

I will check fuses in the morning, just too dark now)

Based on the research I have done, it would look like the GEM died. Can anyone comfirm? (If it is not, the right direct/helpful threads would be appreciated.)

(Some of the below questions may have threads that answer, please feel free to provide the links)

Where is the GEM located? (I believe it is under the dask)

How much of a pain is it to get out/in?

What GEMs are interchangeable with the one in my truck?

Do I have to do anything special when I get it? (I saw some posts that referenced going to the deal to have it programmed. if so, does this need to be done even if I get a used one? Before or after the install?)

Anything else I need to know or am too dumb to ask?

Jason

Fix the BAT first, secound if that does not fix it. Take the number OFF the GEM.

It is OPTION spec GEm to your rig.

U WOULD be suprized how bad bats/chargeing issues cause all kinds of hell !!!

I am thinking that the BAT issue is related. The BAT is only a couple months old, but I will be investigating to eliminate it as the cause.

Also let it sit with the battery removed for at least 30 min
to clear any odd ball data. And yes a low battery can cause a lot
of problems. Some may even seem like they are not related.
Also while you waiting clean the battery cables and the points
where the grounds connect to the motor and any other points
and then check the cables them selves.

Well, got up this morning and the battery was still holding a charge and started the truck. (n.b. To the above replies, about 3 months ago, I replaced the battery and cleaned all of the connections.)

With there being daylight, I started going through all of potential fuses. When I got to fuse for the cluster, it was blown. Worse still, there were strands of wire wrapped around the terminals to bypass the fuse. WTF!

I replaced the fuse with an actual fuse and everything is back to working normal. At least it appears that way. I do not yet know if there is any long term damage from the non-fuse fuse. I guess time will tell.

With what I highlighted in red I think you should still dig deeper and see
if you find any more of that MONKEY BUSINESS
hidden else where. That way you won't have any more nasty little GOT YOU moments .

I have been looking. Checked all the other fuses. That was the only one. The thing that scared me is that "I don't know what I don't know." Grrrr

Prev owner butchered the speaker moutning area in the rear pass trying to fit a 6x9 in there. No such hack job on the other side, just screwed the speaker to the sheet metal, bending the basket on the speaker. So, I am not surprised about the fuse.

I glanced at the rear shaft and there's about 3/4 an inch to an inch that the lift pulled out

Has anyone played with this thread recently or has this issue been dealt with. I have all types of Monkeys showing up lately. I have a rear view camera powered by reverse light keep blowing the fuse. I cannot see where the issue is after welding the wires and heat shrink the whole thing. For now rear view can is disconnected. I really noticed the issue when I started replacing interior lights to LED. I replaced the instrument cluster before I read all issues it creates. I don't think my issue is from my cluster. I put the old lights back in and all work. I wiggled connection nothing seemed to be jumpy. I notice when I put the dome lights in a spark showed up when I screwed it back in. I realized 1 screw was the ground. when that sparked I noticed all the issues. Whether it started there or not Here is what I have now.
nothing without the key on or just turned off so the delayed accessories not working.
turn key to ON not started.
Radio off
power windows not working
dome lights nothing
vanity lights nothing
door buzzer nothing

I traced everything back to the fuse box and 3 fuses are not getting any power. They are not blown but I did notice all fuses on that side seemed to have gotten hot as they had black marks at the upper parts of the fuses. fuses without power are
#30 High Beam Head lamps but high beams come on when truck is running. still dead fuse (weird)
#31 Starter Relay but truck starts (weird) Although It is running very sloppy it is running. I have to check and see if blower is running. I'm nursing it as I can feel it is not 100%
#32 Radio start

I keep getting P0675-60 No 5 glow plug code fault which is cylinder 5 glow plug circuit. This was there before the electric issues and went away after starting up and warmed up. Now is consistent and not sure if my issue with electric needs to be fixed first.

You may find that you will get more traction by starting your own thread on this problem your having.

This looked like an old conversation but I figured I would try this first. Thanks I appreciate it.
