Bad GEM Module?
I've done my boats rebuilt all my CNC machines, beam saw's and every other tools I purchased ion 30 years. Rebuilt many homes. this diesel is different. I once had a lose ground wire from someone's install on the alarm little bell. I went 6 months with all types of things shutting down while driving. I finally took the time to drive it by one of my friends that does auto electric and he opened the took literally 5 minutes done. . Too bad he is no longer in business and neither am I. This truck was a rocket-ship up until this latest set of issues. 2 months ago I had a cracked battery. I couldn't see it or figure it out I was leaking underneath. My alarm clickers stopped working the dash was flickering. It was making me crazy. for such a simple fix at the end. This is almost the same type of mystery but much bigger scale. These monkeys are showing up constantly . iIf not that then its an injector or glow plug. If not that a head gasket or radiator. I love the truck it's only at 120K miles looks amazing but these head aches actually learning curve is biting me in the rear while my SUV is missing a steering column . I'm down to driving a show jeep I put $80k into.and trying to get it ready for Barrett Jackson. I know the guys on here have some incredible experience with these 6.0
Be ready to get asked questions on what you have done and what you have found.
One thing for most things that is very important to have is live data for diagnostics.

There was an electrical revision to the 7.3L SD "generation (99-03) in 2002. 99-01 trucks had the GEM module behind the fuse panel in the left lower dash. Window seal leakage (a known issue with many of the 99-01 trucks) would drip onto the GEM causing all kinds of electrical issues.
The 02-03 trucks had a VSM. This unit is mounted under the dash behind the radio. There is little chance for water damage but the units (for some) did not seem to be as stout as the earlier GEM and would cause all kinds of electrical issues when they began to fail.
These are not cheap units so be confident that you need it replaced as they are becoming harder to find as a new unit and will require a visit to the dealership to program with few exceptions.
