Fuel Additives

Hi all I am getting ready to make a 1400 mile trip with my 1986 F 250 4x4 it has the 460 (7.5)engine with a 6 man slide in camper and towing my 1995 ranger. I am leaving denver co going to washington state my question is are any of the fuel additives worth buying? I was thinking the octane booster may be cheaper than filling up with premium gas. All ideas welcome. and thank you in advance

Why would you need to use premium grade fuel?

you see lots of huge promises, but in reality, pump gas is pretty good and has all the necessary additives already in it. just buy quality gas, not arco, 7-11, or "henry's no-name food store" gas, and you'll be fine

Has your truck been rejetted for high altitude(Colorado)? If so, it may need some carb work to get it runnng right if you are going to use it at a lower altitude.

You should not need any fuel additives. They do work, but I have only used them when I have gotten a tank of lousy gas.

I sometime add marvel mystery oil, seems to run better with it, maybe its improving the compression.

Thanks all for your input guess i was just trying to get better than 8 mpg anyway i could. Ill just stick with a top brand name gas. the carb prolly wasnt jetted for high altitude as i bought it rebuilt on line out of texas a holly 4 barrel. so even with the big 460 i dont need premium regular unleaded will be fine?

It's supposed to be able to run on 87 octane from the factory. If it pings, you may need to check the timing.
