Did you do a search on here for "decode axle tag"?
There are lots of threads here with that information.
If you scroll down a little, there is a box sort of in the center of the page with the time frame to check. Check "and older" and you'll get more hits, but I know I have seen some in the last month.
Or you can post the information here and we'll help you out with it.
I have an 85 f-250 with 460/C6 combo and don't know what axle could not find my tag on the rear axle so I looked at the sticke on the door jam. It says that it's a "73" and "K" tranny.
could somebody tell me what rear end is on my truck
Go to drivetrain.com and look under "Diff. & Rear Axle Components" and you'll see that for each axle, they show the shape of the cover gasket and describe how to ID it.
followed your link and read the whole forum. I Dont have the data tag for the truck as its a 55 ford body on a 85 ford bronco frame, the tag info i have is off of the actual rear end in the truck, Before anyone goes nuts yes the bronco frame is stretched to fit, My main concern is getting the rear end fixed, so any more ideas how to identify exactly what it is an what kinda parts i can use or what whole rear end i could swap under it.
