Hey guys,
I am having my truck worked on right now because of problems with the high pressure oil system and once put back together the mechanic says the computer isn't recognizing the ficm. I just had the ficm rebuilt and was fine before the truck went to the shop for the hpop. Any ideas of why it could be having this problem? Sorry for the lack of information but that was all that he gave me besides that it could be the computer. He says he doesn't think it's the ficm. Is this a common problem? Thanks for any and all help! You guys have been spot on on previous concerns. Glad I found this forum as I don't know much about deisels.
Whenever a concern becomes present after any given repair that I've been into, I've always retraced all my steps with regards to what was disassembled during the repair. This is the strategy I have always used with a 100% success rate of figuring out what I left disconnected or not re-assembled properly. Not being the one that did the work you describe, I obviously can't tell you what was removed or disassembled to change out your HPOP. But on the FICM itself, there are only two plugs, all eight injectors and a ground on one harness, as well as the engine harness plug into it. Perhaps he didn't re-secure the PCM plug maybe???

That's my theory too, there are no coincidences when it was working fine before. And we know the ficm has nothing in relation to the Hpop, so it has to be something he did. I never removed my ficm when replacing my oil cooler or egr cooler, there is no need . So if he did in fact remove it then check the connectors underneath as mike says, they are a pia to reach ,but they all must have a tight connection, maybe he broke a connector when removing one of the three. If he did not remove it , then check grounds on rear of intake manifold?
