(1997 Ford F350 crewcab powerstroke)So I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on where to start to look for the problem. My brakes will lock up in the back and make a skidding nose. The back end will also jump. But this does not happen all the time. It seems like once the truck warms up and you have been driving it for awhile it will do it.
Welcome to FTE! I'm not sure what to say about your brake problem, but this will give you a bump. On second thought, have you pulled the drums off the rear? I would start there and make sure everything is where it is supposed to be. Hope this helps.
Pull the rear drums and clean them inside. Check the brake shoes and replace them if they need it. Clean everything up and check to make sure the wheel cylinders aren't leaking. My truck will do this when I take off in the mornings sometimes, but I know I need to replace the rear brakes.

ok i had the same thing happen to me u need to replace both rear parking brake cables and free up the arm that the parking brake cable attaches to they bind up so when u apply ur brakes u are pushing out the shoes into the drum but i wont compress back to normal so the parking brake arm binds up take some pb blastster and work it loose then u will not have any problems
I have replaced all the rear brake and cable parts, What i learned after all that was that the front Calipers where not working correctly, I went so far as to order a rear disk setup that I never used. After changing out the front caliper's the brakes work as good as new. Hope this helps you out. Also I have a rear didk setup I would sell yah.
