Headers or no headers that is the question

Debating about buyin headers or not.. 96 5.0 217,000 miles.... To stàrt would it even be worth it to get headers with this many miles? And secondly should i get shortys or long tubes? And are they hard to install or should I pay a shop to do it? What will I gain/lose? Will I notice a difference in sound?

First is the truck running in tip top shape?
Long tubes are better than shorties any day of the week.
And when I put on my pacesetters I had replaced the whole exhaust, so yup change for me for sure, but have no idea what it would sound like just headers and stock exhaust.

My exhaust isn't stock it's more or less straight piped

If you off-road, than the shorties all the way. The Summitracing shorties are pacesetters and work fine for a stock or near stock built truck.

Look under your truck, see where the long tubes would exit and then look at where your duals or y pipe would mate. Will it bottle neck? Will it hang low?

I put shorties on my Firebird even, longtubes will in themselves flow better, but if you have to make some funky bends in your pipe what is the point?
