Accessory relocation

I have been looking over my 89 7.3 plotting a turbo setup, and everywhere I look something is in the way. Were there any applications that put the alternator lower, or used a remote reservoir power steering pump?

well, on my 6.9 i added a second alternator in the location that would have the AC unit on trucks that have one (mine doesn't). so you could move it over there, then you just have to figure out a belt to the vacuum pump, or go hydroboost and get a small electric vacuum pump, and have that entire side open

now i know that they make turbo kits for these that seem to sit on top and work around all the factory accessories. or are you planning a custom "fun" setup here?

It's in a 69 F250, so the "correct" stuff doesn't fit. It looks like if I ditch the lift pump, I can tuck a 3g in there on a custom mount with dual belts, then a ps pump off a Toyota on a custom mount on the other side, with the vacuum pump fit in there somewhere if there aren't any semi-stock options. The only vacuum stuff I am running is the brake booster, but I am not a fan of hydroboost. Too many bad GM experiences.
The truck is going to get twin turbos, mounted above the front of the valve covers.

sounds like fun so for your planned turbo locations, sounds like you want the alternator to sit where the vacuum pump sits on these motors stock, and i don't know what to do with the vacuum pump. there might be an electric one out there, or maybe have a small electric motor drive your vacuum pump by a belt, with about a quart-sized reservoir and a pressure switch so it only runs when vacuum falls below a certain point - that could mount anywhere, under the floorboard for all i care
as for hydroboost, i've read good things, but never played with one myself. i like the principle of it though.

Looking some more, if I drop the PS pump a couple inches I should still be able to put the vacuum pump below it on the same belt. I have room there since my steering box is behind the axle.
Hydroboost can be great, but like many things GM half-assed it to the point of pushing people away just like they did with automotive diesels in general. When your brakes and steering interact to the point that one severely reduces the other, it's not good especially if you live in a hilly area.
I was just hoping there was some alternate setup that parts were available for instead of having to make everything. Oh well, it's not like the truck is stock.
