I need some help guys, I have a 79 250 4x4 with a c-6 it had a 400 Its gone now I have a rebuilt 429 to put in I need a cheap oil pan that will work, motor mounts I have the trans adapt mount towers but how do I hook the motor mounts on the block to the new towers?
Will my 400 radiator be enough?
Thank you, Jeremy
Assuming you have a front sump pan now... Sounds like you need a rear sump pan, pickup, oil pump and pickup stud/mainbolt. Ford racing sells a kit with everything you need except oil pump. Part # is m-6675-a460. I couldn't tell you on the mounts without a picture or better description. The other problem you might run into is the power steering pump hitting the steering box. 400 radiator is probably sufficient, depends on which one you have there were several.
X2 on the power steering pump hitting the steering box, i just went through this.
If you have the small 400 radiator you should be ok if you pick the right thermostat and have a fan shroud, if not i would atleast run a decent sized electric fan.
I think someone could help if you have a part number or picture. I just looked at trans adapts website and could only find frame perches for a 2wd. They have solid mounts and urethane mounts for the 4wd swaps.
Make sure you have the right mounts first of all. Usually the 4wd swap mounts bolt to the block 3 bolts each side then a stud on the mount goes into the original perch if you had a 351m or 400.
