I don't ever hear it. I have stacks so the drone is pretty good, but I don't hear it at all, even when towing I've never noticed it... may be worth looking into. How do you test a fan clutch?
If the readings you are getting from your instruments make no sense at all - suspect the instrument! EOT of 252 F will shut down the engine - it won't be allowed to run by the computer. Intake air temp with a stock air cleaner system will be a few degrees above outside temp at most - not 187 with outside air temp in the 30's. Cold soak for two days in with the outside temp in the 30's and the EOT is 90 - give your head a shake and ask what'sup? Whatever you are reading the datastream with is programmed wrong.
Just happens to be a current thread about the fan clutch. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...tch-noise.html
Lilpooh just posted up some interesting info on checking the clutch out. Haven't had time to study it but it looks pretty comprehensive.
You can also monitor the fan PID. Should start out 400 rpm or so cold and come up as truck warms up.
