Trying to solve some FICM problems on 06' F-250. The FICM will usually test around 49 key on, and when cranked it will sink down to 36 and then gradually work its way back up to 49 after about 4-5 minutes of driving.
Assuming that had something to do with the unit heating up, I went ahead and re-flowed the solder on the 16 points on the backside of the power supply. Reinstalled, nothing changed...
Before I send this off to be looked at, any ideas of anything I may have missed? The truck runs well, however it used to have cold start issues. With temperatures raising for spring, it's hard to recreate those cold hardstarts now. All I have to go off is DashBoss telling me that the FICM Main Voltage is dropping. (To confirm I did test the FICM with a voltmeter as well, read same as the Dashboss).
Mine is doing exact samething.... its a 06 also. Ordered 1 from Ed lastweek and looks like darn usps lost it! Giving a few more days before I get with Ed to correct the situation!
Another question, on an 06, is there supposed to be two bolts on the back (firewall side) of the FICM as well? Mine just had the two up front and the two holding the bracket to the air tube.

Thats weird, mine only had the bracket holding it on in the front... 4 bolts total, two holding it to the bracket, and two holding the bracket to the air tube.
But none on the rear part... Maybe that is why it rattled itself to death? Does Ford sell these bolts?
I just sent mine to Ed and it only had 3 nuts holding it on. 2 in front, 1 in back. Looks like they are subject to working themselves loose. I plan on using a dab of Loctite when I reinstall.
Picked up bolt from local dealer when one of the rear ones dropped when re-installing FICM. After 30 minutes of looking went to dealer. Ed rebuilt the one I sent to him. FICM numbers on SGII are very consistent now.

Well the FICM is Obviously TOAST and needs to go to ED
But Now while its Gone you need to test the Batterys and Alternator
Bad Battery or Alternator will KILL the FICM
I had 1 bad battery cell so I installed 2 new batterys and was amazed at how much better it ran that first few Minutes during warmup
And you might as well start to save Pennies for a High Output Alternator
The OEM Alternator is way underpowered and struggles to keep up then if you have any Aftermarket Add on accesories the alternator is on Borrowed time
with my stock charging system and a Stereo System I was EATING OEM ALternators in under 5000 Miles easaly
FICM is going to Ed next week, I have to continue to drive the truck a few days under the circumstances...
Batteries are less than a month old, two new Interstates. Will look into a new Alternator. Any suggestions on a particular model? I don't use the radio in the truck and don't really have any electrical accessories.
Wow, put the two rear bolts and the big plate washer on the back end of the FICM today. Huge PITA... Need to go invest in an 8mm ratcheting wrench... Getting a socket back there is insanity. The bad part is that I am probably going to take it right back off to send to Ed next week.
Also noticed the bolt on the front holding the bracket to the air tube has cracked the air tube threads a little. Anyone else had this happen? maybe just let it roll?
My also has a very small crack at the thread. I put a small amount of PVC Cement on the crack and will just monitor it and see what happens. Not sure how long the crack has been there.
