FE block 66-429 casting

Years ago I was given an old camper with low miles on it. It was a late 60's model. This thing was as ugly as they come so I scrapped it and kept the engine. I was told that it was a 360 engine so I figured since it ran so good I would save it for a spare for my trucks. I was looking at it the other day and noticed on the back of the block behind where the flywheel would be was cast 66-429. It looks like a 360 or 390 to me is it possible that it is a 429?

429: 1968/73 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars only. 429's (and 460's) have 7 valve cover bolt holes per side.

All FE engines have 5 valve cover bolt holes per side.

I will have to look at the valve covers now. I thought it was an FE block thats why I was confused by the casting numbers on it.

That's a foundry mark, doesn't mean diddly. It cannot refer to a 1966 429, because there was no such thing as a 429 until 1968 (ditto 460).

If you're looking at the bellhousing bolt patern, on an FE it'll be "circular" not angular like a 429/460.
