I own a 92 F250 with a 460 v8 LB, SC 2wd, AT with 4.10 gears. It has 141,000 miles on it and the tranny is acting. I am the second owner on the truck since last year and primarily use it for towing a car trailer.
Lately it has been clunking and not shifting correctly. The PO hauled their 5th wheel RV back and forth across the U.S. between Nevada and MN every year, so its all highway trailering miles.
Is the E4OD the standard tranny in this truck, if not what is? What are my options for replacing this tranny - could i use an AOD? Looking for help!
Thanx!
Mike

E4od would be the original trans. Aod is lighter duty, I dont think they made one for a big block. The E4od is all electronically controlled, you may just have a sensor going bad or something simple. Check for codes in the computer before condemning the trans. Oldfuelinjection.com will show you how to get codes without a scanner.
