e4od aod e swap
Hey Guys
I have a 94 F150 4.9. It has a e4od tranny that is going out. I bought a used tranny that was suposed to be a e4od but it looks as though its a aod e. Has anybody replaced the e4od with the aod e? If so is there any mods i need to do?

I am not an expert on transmissions but the first thing to do is confirm that the "new" transmission is indeed an AODE. If you click on the "Tech Info" in the bar at the top of this forum page you will find a link to show how to identify a trans.
However if it is an AODE then it should bolt up but you will need the computer and wiring harness for it and probably a change of driveshaft.
Hopefully someone else will chime in or you may want to try posting this in the transmission page, there are some real experts there.
My advice, for what it is worth, would be to either get your own trans fixed or buy another E4OD. It is a much stronger trans than an AODE.

First off, the AODE is half the tranny that the E4OD is.
You would need to get a different computer and everything to do with the tranny would have to be rewired.
The drive shaft is a different length. The cross member is different. The flexplate on the engine would have to be changed to fit the different torque convertor.
