E4OD to AOD?

E4OD to AOD?
I have a '92 F150 with a 5.0 and E4OD. The trans is failing and I'm in the off season of work so money is tight.
I was wondering if would be a good idea to swap the trans from my '84 lincoln town car it has a 5.0 too but a AOD trans.
Is it hard to switch from the E4OD to the AOD and later if I get the E4OD rebuilt or replaced (with something better) would it switch back easily.
