Weather looks like it won't be playing nice this weekend, supposed to rain tomorrow through Sunday. Without a garage = playing the waiting game.
Well, my luck has always been my luck, the weather this afternoon was fantastic. On the bright side, got the turbo and pedestal pulled, and the up pipes are soaking in penetrating oil until the next time I can crawl under there. Would y'all recommend keeping the turbo and pedestal for spares? Selling them to someone wanting to do a conversion?

Yes.
I have the one off of my blue 2-wheel drive truck that now belongs to my daughter. I have the one off of my Excursion, with wicked wheel and 1.15 BDP A/R outlet. And I have the one off of my son's F350.

I'm late to the party, and I don't want to harsh on your mellow, but just FYI the 38R ain't smog legal in the People's Democratic Republic of Kalifornia. What's your plan?
It was, it cleared up this afternoon for a few hours. I even had the chance to go play basketball with my 7-year-old at the park. Good day!
Ya, I am a bit upset as we made the decision to not go to Hollister based on the reports from the weather guides. It said 100% rain for both Saturday and Sunday.
My friend who went up on Thursday says that it has been perfect riding weather during the day .
And today which was suppose to have rain all this morning looks to be perfect for riding with no rain in site.

If you have a smog guy looking for part numbers when both turbo's apear stock, he has a head trip. I'd never go back to him. The rest of the system is stock, and extra air just burns the fuel more effficent.
Sorry if you had a problem, there's just so many of them out there.
Lotta places don't recognize the 38R as being non-CARB compliant. He should be ok.

That's the boat we californios are in, hoping the 38r will pass unnoticed at smog check time. I'm considering some upgrades (turbo AC sticks & tunes) and the only smog legal turbo I can find is the BD Turbo Thruster. Not too much info to compare it to the 38r (can't find a compressor map for example) but based on what I can find the 38r remains the no brainer choice for DD/tow duty. So I'd strongly prefer the 38r but not too thrilled at the possibility of failing a smog check and the subsequent hassle of putting the stocker back on to get tags. The peace of mind the CARB number provides might be a fair trade for a little less performance.
Edit: the 4" vs 3" intake is a dead give-away 38r vs stock, something easy for the tech to see. And I agree, changing smog shops is what I did last time, but the new place still wanted to fail me for the 6637 until I produced documents. Pain in the patookis.
