Cody, do you know if Bill replaces VDH5 with the PMT1 for the base? I know you put the BDH5 in the "really sucks" category...
The tuning that Bill uses for the 02-03 trucks is VDH2-based. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how one looks at it), PMT1 won't play nice with the 02-03 trucks; the truck will run but portions of the truck won't work (certain instrument panel gauges/lights, charging system, etc.).
However, Bill (as well as a few others) use a VDH2/PMT1 "hybrid". Some trucks shift terribly with this while others work just fine....it goes back to what I mentioned before. The MAIN reason for this was to allow the torque converter clutch to apply quickly/early in 2nd gear at "WOT" (or as "WOT" as you can get on an engine with no throttle plate) so acceleration at the track would be on par with a 99-01 truck. A side effect is the 4-3 downshift and TCC release/apply that the PMT1 has instead of the 2 to 2.5 second delay between the 4-3 downshift and the reapplication of the torque converter clutch that the VDHx family is programmed to do originally.
