Hey guys. I'm going to be buying a kt performance ts 6 position chip for my 2000 7.3. I don't want to take away one of my spots on the chip by putting in a stock setting. So I was wondering say I had to run some diagnostic stuff. After installing the chip am I able to take it out and run the truck stock with no problems for diagnostic purposes?
I would suggest keeping the stock setting position.
1) encase someone borrows it to tow (like my dad does to tow around his "rod" to the car shows, he don't know diesels, egt etc)
2) putting the chip in and out can be a pain at times plus you risk damage
To answer your question. Yes, You can remove it to resort back
You should be able to pull the chip and return to stock, but that much movement and plugging and unplugging isnt good for you PCM.
I would leave stock on there. Trust me, even when I had the DP Tuner with 16 tunes, I rarely used more than 3. Now with my PHP TS chip I still only use about 3 tunes.
I have the capability to load 16 tunes on my Hydra, and I have 7 tunes - but two of them are experimental. I use stock far more than one would expect, and the Hydra has the "0" tune, which allows the PCM stock tune through. I use maybe 4 tunes (other than stock) throughout the whole year... including warm-up tune in winter.
