Line the cab with dbKill, you'll need 24 sheets to do the floor, rear cab wall, inside the firewall, and inside the doors. Cuts down the drone, as do mufflers.... Always something more to do.

nah it sounds really bad, kinda like a 253 holden motor with a whistle stuck in its ****!!!
Where in Tas are you from? I am originally from near Burnie.
Once you are all done, do you mind putting up how you went about finding/stripping a vehicle in the states? (and any issues you encountered) I miss my effie like a fat kid misses McDonalds, but I just can't justify spending over 50 gorillas on a vehicle that would be sold for 10k in the states.
I like your idea of finding a cheaper local chassis and importing the drivetrain - gets around the stupid vehicle importation laws we have.
Also, for your power windows, there is a good write up in the SuperDuty forum about them... you can temporarily get around it by putting some Silicon grease on the window rubbers, but your window motor is probably on the way out and best to just get another one. Not sure about the Aircon/mirror issue, haven't encountered either before, but I am sure someone in the Superduty or 7.3l forum will have.

hey mate, i like my welder, had it 10+ years and never had a drama, is very well used and abused, but time for a new torch and liner.
Im from launceston, longford, cressy areas!! spent a little time down that way when younger tho at sisters beach/wyntard area
Importing the trucks is something i will never ever do again unfortunatley, most head **** experience i have ever had. I will never do it again for myself.
Just not worth it, unless your in the business.
yeah mate, a bit of graphite grease will go a long way to fix windows but i too busy driving it at the moment!!!!
got stuck into the tray(bed) today, cut a few inches off the top of the cab guard, and modified the shape a little. took way more time than i though but its all tacked up now;
getting ready for my 4x4 swap, pulled my gearbox and transfer off my other engine, will get started on swap later in week;
notice this engine has pyro plumbed same place as Brian has his, gearbox input shaft has wear on spline but going to use anyway. Will suffice til i get a john wood or bts.....
All buttoned up apart from rear tail shaft,
Got bellowed up pipes and 4" down pipe on while box was out. Bought some 2nd hand 315/75/16 tyres to see how they look, trying to get some 16x10 steel wheels but can't get any. Anyone got any wheels they would sell?
Thanks, nah my mate had all the stuff I didn't so got in there real quick. Took for first drive yesterday, needs wheel alignment bad, but all else good. Gearbox changes awesome, must of had a modded valve body at some stage as shifts very firm and fast. It had a billet triple clutch converter as well. So hopefully will last at least til I get rest sorted. Very loud with 4" down pipe and no other exhaust.
