need help with oil filter!!!

I have a 71 ford f100..i bought it with a 400m under the hood..it didnt come with that obviously..it had an inline 6..i dont know the year of the 400..are the filters all the same on the years of the 400s..any help please..i didnt see a part number on the motorcraft on the motor already

Most if not all Ford V8s of that era took the FL1A or if you don't care about your engine you can use the
Fram PH8

i think that all of the engines, at least from the early 60's to 96 took a fl1a. i also just put a filter conversion on my 53 to accept a spin on filter, fl1a. i agree with 60f100 about the fram filter. only motorcraft oil and filters go in my trucks. 300 6cyl. also carries the same one.

The Motorcraft FL1A is available at Wal-Mart for less than a Wix. That fits pretty much every engine Ford made prior to the Mod motors. I even have one on the 2.3 in my Courier.
