I'm getting ready to tackle my door lock actuators following Crazy001 write-up.
I have two that do not work at all.
My question is: my front passenger door will lock and unlock with the drivers side master switch just fine, but it will not work with the key fob! The fob opens the others that have working actuator. What gives? I cant make any sense of this.
Sounds like the problem isn't the actuator(s) then. Your electrical impulse to cycle the lock is making it to the actuator when pushing the driver's side master switch, so the actuator is good. The electrical impulse when using the key FOB is coming from somewhere else (maybe directly from the GEM), so that is where your problem should lie. My Ford computer does a GEM test that cycles the locks, windshield wipers and a bunch of other stuff. Find someone who can test your GEM up there in Kentucky. If you don't have a mechanic friend, MAKE ONE!
It has some sort of Aftermarket Ford Anti -theft unit on it. I wonder if that could be causing the disconnect. I know I have to push the unlock button before the engine will even crank. I hate that option. If my FOB battery dies for some reason - NO START!!!
For clearification: It does try to move the actuator with the FOB, just will not do it all the way.
