Hey yall i have a 2000 f250 super duty. Right now the only problems with it are:
1: When i press the door lock switch the passenger door lock will click and come down about half way but the door still is unlocked. in order to lock it, you have to press the latch down by hand.
2: My key wont unlock or lock the drivers side door from the outside, however it works to start the truck and open the passenger door.
3: When i bought the truck the previous owner game me a handheld wireless unlock and lock button. The little black thing with an alarm button, and it doesnt work either, i replaced the batteries and still nothing. So what would be the solution to fixing all of this?
On #1, Ford electric locks are notorious for getting weak. You can try operating it with the engine running and see if that makes a difference. Sometimes the little bit higher voltage from the alternator will make it go ahead and work. Nothing to do but replace it.
#2 sounds like a rod or some other piece inside the door is broken or fallen off. Nothing to do but take the door panel off and see what you can see.
#3. Try getting in the truck, and turn the key to on and back off 8 times without starting the truck. On some Fords this puts the remote system in a learn mode, and then you can hit the key fob and it will learn that fob. If this is trying to work, I think after the 8th time all the locks will lock and then unlock to signal to you it's in the learn mode.
Okay thanks. #1 was a great help and for #2 it isnt a rod because the key wont even turn the latch on that side. No matter how much wiggling or pulling out and in. Then #3 I had heard the turn on 8 times in 10 seconds but the door latches dont cycle to tell me its in learn mode. Thanks for what you know. But this is seeming like its something to have a garage do
