door locks

I have an 89 F150 recently purchased as a second truck. The previous owner told me that he was occasionaly locked out, presumably by the power door locks, as the key wouldn't open the lock. The locks worked intermittenly for awhile and then both quit completely. I have replaced the driver's side actuator with a known good one and am being locked out on occasion by the power door locks on that one side. On one occasion previously it was possible to force it with a pair of pliers, but don't want to try that unless necessary. If you open the other side and try to use the switch, the button only moves a limited amount and won;t open the door.Same for the other switch. After using the handle to open the door, the key will work again for awhile. It doesn;t seem to matter whether I lock the door with the switch, the button or the key, and always intermittenly. I don't know where to look for the problem. Can someone give me an idea of where to start? thanks.

Wait, so is the lock cylinder the problem or the power locks themselves?

It isn't in the lock cylinders as both were recently replaced with new ones so that the key would be the same as my F250. The problem has occured with both.

Try getting a Power door lock and power window controll box (that goes on the doors) out of a junkyard or buy OEM
