My 90 festiva has developed a once in a while miss, and a once in a while tick. Neither one of them are all the time, and not necessarily at the same time. It has 202k on it. I recently changed the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, and ran some injector cleaner through it. Runs the same. I'm thinking I have a bad injector, but wondered if anyone had any other thoughts.
I also was wondering why my fast idle goes so high in the am. It jumps up to 2200-2400 when its cold out. I generally park it when its cold and drive my 76 around, but if we don't get any snow again, its much smarter to drive something that makes 35+ mpg in town compared to something that makes 8, maybe. It didn't used to idle that high.
I believe i would be checking the engine coolant sensor for the pcm. With that kind of mileage the temp/resistance reading may be going wonky.at least that is what i would check first.i had a 86 f150 once that would only mess up if i got to work @ 6am and get off late.12-14 hrs..it ran rich for 30-45 secs then once the temp moved ever so slightly it was good. I liked to never found that..even the master driveability techs were defeated...but little ol me found it.
Just a thought.
