I have 86 ranger 4x4 automatic truck runs super has 4.10 gears real good low end and decent fuel milage about 22mpg. Heres my problem. i go out in the morning to start it and it will crank over all day long and not start unless i give her about a 1/2 pedal throttle then she will fire right up and you got to keep her rpms up about 30 seconds or so or it will stall. so i keep my foot on the gas and the other on the brake while putting it in gear to keep from stalling out. once you go a mile or so its fine.
Ive swapped out IAC, and tps with junkyard parts no change other than a little lower idle probably about 600 rpm at idle warm. changed plugs, wires, cap, rotar. put on a new module on distributor. new fuel pump in tank and frame. new frame filter. about the only thing i didnt tinker with is injectors and pressure regulator. could that be it? Thanks guys
You might want to check your ECT - coolant temp sensor. It tells the computer that your engine is cold, and needs a little extra fuel along with a bumped up idle. The ACT- air temp sensor could also be off.
Neither will throw a code, to my knowledge, as the computer has nothing to reference against.
If you never get a fast idle when the engine is cold, it could be the sensors.
