Just a follow up, did the hoses today. At the last moment I decided I would either rebuild/replace the fittings at the heads. The local dealer had the fittings, so I just replaced them and got the new style with the additional outside o-ring.

Everything went well except for all of the junk around the passenger side fitting, where the glow plug module (CA truck) is mounted. Had to remove a few things to make room.

It's pretty remarkable how much beefier the new hoses look/feel.

I got everything all installed and took it out for a long freeway run, even briefly got the truck up to 90, and was kinda surprised how effortless that seemed for the motor.

After that run, no leaks at all from the new hoses/fittings, so that's good.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

I am going to have to stop talking to Greg and reading his posts, I swear that you have been hexing my truck lately. First the IPR problems last week and today I blew a HPOP hose on the drivers side.

You can see where it blew, right next to the metal tag, it sprayed out and hit the lifting lug that is by the ICP sensor and sprayed EVERYWHERE under the hood. I was just getting off the freeway and ended up putting 5 quarts of oil in it.

Sorry about your woes, Donn, but thanks for posting. I went and read your other thread. Cool that you were able to get everything resolved on the spot despite the challenges. Nice job on that makeshift tool.

Can I assume that these were your original hoses, with 200K on them?

That is my guess, I bought it with 165K on it. 2 years ago, it has 212k on it now. I just had a look at the hoses on the Excursion, it is a 2000 with 175K on it, they look original too. I guess I need to find a good deal on them....
