Best shocks for my 04 Excursion

I have a 2004 Excursion with the 6.0L Powerstoke in it, also its 4wd. Wanted to know what everyone recommended for replacement shock absorbers. Not looking to raise the truck height just to replace the shocks.

Yup, lots of threads to look threw about shocks. Most seem happy with whatever they get.

Personally I got the rancho 9000's because they had a great deal on them and because they are adjustable. If you don't like the ride, turn the ****.

I just bought some Rancho RS9000's. I'm not sure if my wife will be getting them put on before I get home from Afghanistan of if I'll get to do it. Either way I'm sure it'll be a better ride than what I've got now. I've got a feeling the current shocks are originals and they've got 140k on them if that's the case.

I've always been a fan of the Bilstein 5100s.

I had Bilsteins on my 7.3, they were good but a bit firm for daily driving, great for towing IMO. I just put Rancho 9000s on my 6.0. I've only had them on for a few days but I like them. As others said, they are adjustable, I have the rears on 3, fronts on 5. Haven't experimented yet but that seems to be a popular combination. I tow sometimes but I don't always want the firm ride so adjustable is nice. You can also get a kit for these shock so you can adjust from in the cab.

I put rancho 9000 on mine over a year ago and am very happy. I got a good price plus a rebate so the price was about the same as "cheaper" shocks Our Ex is a family hauler, no towing at this point, so I keep it on the soft side. It transformed the rough ride that we did have to very acceptable ride.

I've got a set of Rancho 9000's on the way. I do tow but I've also got RAS already installed so I expect that will take care of the towing issue and I can always turn the **** up if they need a little more.

My Ex is also primarily a family hauler with towing a required secondary purpose so a little smoother ride during trips with the family is more important.

Rancho 9000XL's here too. Great warranty too, and there's a chance you may need to use it. Still great shocks that perform well, but they don't seem to be in it for the long haul before they get noisy.

That said, even if they make a little noise after some miles on them, they still perform much better than quiet, but bad, factory shocks.

200,000 miles on my Bilsteins!

I figured it was time to change my bilsteins at 200,000 miles. It did not make a bit of difference between the old and the new. Incredible shocks!
