I am looking to replace the shocks on my 04 f150 4x4. what are good ones to buy? truck has 54k on it.
i am having the autospring 2" spacer installed today. i decided not to do it my self.
I had the Rancho 9000 XL series but on all four wheels and I love them. The truck rides better than it did new. I like them because they are adjustable so you can set them to how you like your truck to ride or for off roading you can crank them all the way down to give you more flex.
A friend of mine has the bilstein and he loves his as well...so I would say both are good options.
That's a good question I bought mine from 4 wheel parts but they were on sale and Rancho had a $100 rebate. I probably would not have bought them from them if it hadn't been for the rebate and the sale.
I had Monroe Sensatrac on the 99 I had. Liked the ride and the handling of the truck. I am not an off-roader nor have I tried any of the other shocks mentioned, but I will go back to the Monroe's when I change them on my 04.
I took the advise from this forum and went with Bilstein, managed to strangle 90,000 from the stock units, they were dead when I had them off you could have closed them up using hlaf pound weight. The fronts took 4 hours to change and the rears were 1/2 hour. Rides well now.
The only thing to be aware of is that some of the sellers on e bay do not have stock, they quoted 6-8 weeks after taking my money via paypal, cost me $15 in fees to get the money back, ask if they have stock before paying over.
Next thing is the rotors they to are trashed.
What shocks would you suggest to soften the ride of my 04 4x4. The majority of my driving is on crappy roads and my FX rides really rough on these roads. I've no complaints on the nice roads but the bad roads are rough!
