Dropping a 289/302 into a 360 truck

My 360 is goiing tio cost to much to fix so I'm looking to swap another motor. I found a 289/302 with a c4 tranny. How much problems would it be to swap the 289/302 into the 360 truck? I know the motor mounts will be different but what else will be a problem?

Not hard at all , i just did it a few months back with my 73. It was a column shift 3 speed so i had to change out the column to an auto shift, luckily i had one from a 79. Motor mounts and mount towers are different, lucky again i had those. The engine is shorter than a 360 so i added a fan spacer . I used the 360 radiator which is pretty big and cooled the 302 in 100 degree days real easy. To make the 360 fan shroud center the fan i had to lower the radiator about 3/4 ", the 302s must sit a little lower than the 360s. My 360 radiator never had a trans mission cooler in it so i had to add one for it. No problem with the transmission mount or drive shaft, bolted right up. My truck is a short F-100 so if you have a bigger truck and a 4 speed it may involve a little more work in that area. Good luck.

I believe the mount towers are different also. The transmission will have to be changed.

dyoungen,
If you are needing, I've got a set of 302 mount towers sitting on the floor of my shop.

drop me a line if you need them.

The 1976 F100 is an automatic and we're planning on going back with an auto. I was just wondering what was involved with changing from the 360 to the 289.
