I have had times that I even disagree with the torque wrench and keep tightening.

Also one for the torque happy folks. It is imperative to know when a torque value is listed to know if the value is for wet or dry threads. Also what kind of wet, plain oil will give less torque than moly lube. Dry gives the least torque.

Also going by the number, the threads have to be "new" clean, NO rust, no dirt, no burrs on the threads, nothing. A washer under a bolt head will change the torque value, an aluminum washer will give a different torque value than a stainless washer.

We could go on and on all day long.

our torque specs are usually TAF, Tight as F***. it hasn't failed us yet. Except some of my buddies don't understand that you can't keep torquing aluminum lol

I agree with all that which is one reason I rarely torque anything. I think a lot of plugs have popped out from a little too much torque plus anti-seize on the threads.
