Interior Question
So I am going to pickup my first/new truck up on Sunday and the interior is horrible, my plan is to follow Ems posts and repaint the dash, redo the carpet, ect.
I however am getting a crew cab and I would like to know if anyone knows if the back seat is the same as the front because mine is lacking one and I have nothing to compare too. also when I search car-parts.com I get nothing for the rears. So is the front and the back the same????
Also what are original interior colors? I want to do the red, I belive it is called Ox Blood, but I could be wrong.
Also what are the options for the seats? vinyl, velour?
Has anyone ever ordered the reupholstery kits like the ones from npd or lmc?? how did they work/look?

on our 1989 Ford F350 the rear seat looks to me to be the same as the front seat but the front doesn't lean forward. I am not completly sure for older ones. Our 89 has cloth and red interior but it is an XLT Lariat.

Before you paint the plastic you should get all the old, dead, white plastic off. In fact, when you do you it may surprise you how good the plastic looks.
The door panels are made of pretty thick plastic, and you can sand on them a long time w/o sanding through. But the stuff coming off will load up your sandpaper in short order unless you rinse it under a small stream of water frequently.

Yes, it will lose the grain, or "leather look". But, if the plastic is dead, like what I see on many of the door panels, even a good coat or three of the SEM paint isn't going to make it look right or stay on. The chalky stuff has to come off, and in doing so the finish gets smooth, meaning w/o grain.

All bench seats from 1980-1996/7 have the same mounting spots. Only difference is the front benches dont tilt forward, due to safety.
For the panels, you might be able to get away with washing/sanding them, and repainting them the same color with SEM Products :: Home or LMC Truck Parts and Truck Accessories.

Ok I guess that's what I will go with, I know prep work is the most import part. But does anyone know the red color of the interior? And is it available from SEM?

Go to a local (automotive) paint store that can color-match your existing color, they can mix up SEM paint for you.
