I think I mis-read your original question, if you're asking whether the VIN has the color code, the answer is no.
The only place you'll find the paint code is on the warranty plate under "color".
If the VIN you're looking at has "Y" as the fourth character, that's a 73-76 truck with a 360 2bbl V8 engine.
